Duncan Plaza Water Garden and Civil District Courts

Duncan Plaza Water Garden and civil district courts

Spring 2015

The Duncan Plaza Water Garden is a void dug 18 feet into the New Orleans landscape. the civic court building which sits upon the site unites itself geometrically and functionally with the landscape design. The form of the built structures within the site are generated through the connection points that link the New Orleans Public Library and City Hall.: the overlay of orthogonal and angled language. The building acts as a filtration system which gathers rain water and allows it to collect and fall throughout the site through gravitational pull. Collected rainwater falls eighteen feet into the site and finally drains itself into the Loyola canal which runs towards Basin Street and the Lafitte Greenway.
